2011 Honda V4 Crossrunner
The European design team behind the Crossrunner’s unique proposition was given the opportunity to design a motorcycle that reflected the riding conditions of this new decade. The Crossrunner had to be exciting to ride but at the same time easy to master, and the styling of the machine needed to reflect these cross discipline attributes.
The Crossrunner had to be comfortable for both rider and passenger. It was also essential that the end product reflected the ultra-high quality finish that Honda has become rightly renowned for.
The Crossrunner had to be comfortable for both rider and passenger. It was also essential that the end product reflected the ultra-high quality finish that Honda has become rightly renowned for.
The bike’s sophisticated styling is accentuated by the high and wide handlebars. Positioning the rider this way with an almost straight back and comfortably outstretched arms increases levels of comfort and improves visibility – both ahead and behind.
To place the pillion on a low, flat seat base, the Crossrunner exhaust system is a low-slung 4-2-1 system, rather than the widely adopted under-seat design. This solution also offers a neat, aesthetically pleasing exhaust routing, excellent cornering clearance and a pleasingly muted yet distinctive V4 exhaust note.
Crucial machine data is provided by a ‘floating’ instrument binnacle, placed high for optimum visibility at all times. This design technique also creates a feeling of room and airiness to visually create a sense of space.

Valentino Rossi Make Debut Motogp with Ducati Desmosedici
Valentino Rossi made his much anticipated debut on board the Ducati Desmosedici on Tuesday. The Italian turned laps at the Valencia circuit as part of a two-day MotoGP test along with 16 other riders (view the results in our 2010 MotoGP Valencia Day 1 Test Results). The 31-year-old hopped aboard the Ducati wearing plain black leathers, contrasted strongly by his neon Number 46 written across his back.
Rossi’s first trip lasted just eight laps so he could get an initial feel for the bike. The team first utlilized the big bang engine for much of the first day, and worked on additional items such as geometry. Rossi then set out on the screamer version, making one final pass before calling it a day. Overall, the Italian set a best time of 1’35.134, and finished the first day of testing in 10th directly behind his Ducati teammate, Nicky Hayden. For Ducati the stated goal of this test is to determine whether to go with a screamer or big bang engine for the upcoming season.2011 MV Agusta F3 Revealed at 2010 EICMA Show
MV Agusta has released information and photographs on its new F3 middleweight supersport bike in advance of its debut at the EICMA Milan show this weekend. As we stated before when “spy photographs” of the bike were released, the F3 will be powered by a 675cc three-cylinder in keeping with MV’s historic Grand Prix racing tradition of its 350cc and 500cc triples upon which Giacomo Agostini and others won 10 Grand Prix world championships. As usual at this point in a new model release, information in the press kit was sparse, but some key points were mentioned. The new F3 features the usual array of racing technology, including ride-by-wire throttle, multiple selectable engine maps, and the inclusion of MV’s Mark III traction control system used on its current F4 and Brutale models. The most interesting new aspect of the F3 engine however, is the use of a counter-rotating crankshaft. By spinning the crankshaft in the opposite direction of the wheels, it helps to counter some of the gyroscopic forces that tend to keep the bike running straight, aiding in handling agility. Also, instead of the trademark underseat mufflers, the F3 features the now-common under-engine exhaust chamber, with three slash-cut muffler tips exiting out the lower right side (somewhat similar to the Brutale models).

The foot-forward position on the Mid- Concept has been adapted to provide comfort for the rider and offer additional protection from weather. The newly designed 17 inch wheels with PRO-LINK rear suspension add to the motorcycle look and enhance high speed stability and maneuverability with the optimum size radial tyres giving a sporty ride. The front fairing air vents coupled with the larger wheels will deliver greater stability when riding at higher speeds.
2011 KTM 125 Duke Gallery
KTM Press release:
2011 is set to become a very special year for young motorcycle enthusiasts. World famous for its fascinating sport bikes, KTM launches its first road-legal 125 – the 125 Duke. Available as of spring 2011, the idea behind the new bike is clear at first sight: true riding fun thanks to fully-fledged motorcycle technology. And at a reasonable price at that! Or: your first fast love. For many years, Austrian maker KTM has been making it a point to offer great sport motorcycles even to the youngest riders. On the off-road scene, it is not the least these extensive efforts to support young racers that helped KTM achieve its current lead. Besides the popular, high quality KTM Minicycles, Motocross and Enduro models, KTM has also initiated numerous motor sports campaigns for the young generation all over the world.
Just like racing itself, passing on that passion for motorbikes to children and adolescents is in the company’s very DNA. Since the 2004 launch of the KTM Super Duke, the brand’s first full-blooded tarmac sports bike, KTM has consistently developed its on-road expertise, making sure that the three letters from Upper Austria are a household name to committed road riders today. From there, it was a logical step to start tackling the development of a road bike for beginning riders. Like no other brand, KTM represents a highly enjoyable riding experience, generated by concepts that always have put a strong focus on the dynamism of each model: light weight by omitting all non-essential parts; precision, achieved by modern designs and the use of only the best quality components; power thanks to strong, lightweight sports engines second to none; a unique style resulting from bold looks and an unmistakeable design philosophy. These very same capabilities and features form the foundation of the 125 Duke. Building on them, and led by the very same engineers that have brought superior sports bikes like the Duke and Superduke to the tarmac, the KTM design centre has now developed the future 125 cc benchmark.Wednesday, November 3, 2010
